THE FIRST SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING!

February 20, 2011 marks the date of the first Semi-Annual meeting for the MVBA. Those that I have talked with feel that it was a really good meeting. I think there was a bit of nervous anticipation that comes from not being sure what to expect, but for the most part I felt everything was pretty relaxed and pleasant.

The meeting was started off with song and prayer, and then we seated the messengers and voted Debbie Walker as acting clerk.

I then showed a video which had clips from various sermons on revival. This video has proven to be very moving in its message. I provided disc copies to anyone who wanted one for their church or personal use. We have a few left that we would like to send you if you contact us at the office and ask.

Bro. George Roach from the Missouri Baptist Convention gave a message reminding us of the purpose of the association in SBC life. I want to thank Bro. George for his message; we often forget the benefits of being a part of a group of churches working together in service of our Lord.

We accepted the constitution as written and the only change to the by-laws was to add trustees to manage any real property we have. We also accepted the slate of officers who have graciously agreed to serve this first year, and we now have a budget to operate under.

Having the minutes from this meeting and a slate of officers agreed upon by you, we were finally able to open a checking account for the MVBA. This month we will be working on closing out or transferring remaining funds from the former entities and officially dissolving the Joint Mission Board.

I want to thank everyone for the great attitudes you have had during this transition. There have been a few small surprises, but over all I feel this transition has gone very smooth and a great deal of that comes from you being such a great group of people. May God continue to bless each of you!
